PTR 08: Two Days Explore Akha Poulee

Explore villages of Akha poulee, Akha cherpia  and Mouchee

Itinerary:

Day one: Bountai – tribal villages – Ban Poulee(_/L/D).

Meet our guide at Senphaxay Guesthouse in Bountai, then we take our private car from Bountai  to the point where our trek starts. On the way we drive and stop to visit the tribal villages of Akha cherpia, Akha Mouchee, and Akha Cherpia (the women in theses villages still wear their daily traditional clothes. We have a good chance to enjoy the beautiful landscapes with mountains surrounding us on the trip. We will arrive at the point where our trek start. After that, we start trekking from the trail to the village of Akha Poulee. Trek downhill and then continue uphill to the villages. When arriving at village, we will stay there and take time to learn Akha culture and eat traditional food in the village. Today we spend overnight at this village.

Trekking: 2 hours, trekking level: moderate

Day two:  Ban Poulee – Ban Namkuang – back to Bountai(B/L/_).

In the morning we will explore the routine of Akha ethnic, we a have good chance to see local people doing their daily housework. After breakfast, we will start our trekking, it will take  3 – 3,5  hours to other villages. We will trek through evergreen forests and descend the stream in the jungle. Then, we will reach Namkuang village village (Akha cherpia) from this we will walk around the village to see their house and lifestyle. The picnic lunch will be arranged on a relaxing site. After that, we continue hiking to the point where we will meet our driver. Then drive back to Bountai.

Trekking level: moderate to difficult.

  • Trek starts: at 8:00 am Saenphaxay Guesthouse in Bountai.
  • Trek ends: at 5:00 pm in Bountai.

What to Bring:

  • A good pair of shoes for walking
  • A hat or cap
  • Sunglasses
  • Mosquito repellent/Insect repellent
  • Sunscreen
  • Toilet paper
  • Raincoat (in rainy season)
  • Long phants
  • Pocket money etc.

Important Do’s & Don’ts:

  • Do not give individual gifts or money to children.
  • Ask before taking photos of people or spiritual items.
  • Help keep the trails clean by not littering.
  • Purchasing handicrafts is highly appreciated, but do not purchase antiques.
  • Always stay with the guides
  • Do not use drugs.
